How to use it

Step 1

Get it ready

Take the case off, disconnect Bluetooth, and turn the volume all the way up. Point the speaker at the floor so gravity helps.

Step 2

Run a cycle

Pick Water eject for a splash, Dust removal for muffled sound with no water. Let the ring reach 100 percent without touching the phone.

Check the result

The method

Why 165 Hz and not some other tone

A speaker clears itself by moving its own diaphragm hard enough to throw the droplet out. Low frequencies give the largest movement, and around 165 Hz most phone speakers hit their strongest usable excursion. It is the same principle the Apple Watch uses to eject water.

Dust is a different problem. Fine particles sit in the mesh and need faster, smaller movements to shake loose, so the dust mode sweeps upward instead of holding one tone.

Before you start

What this fixes, and what it does not

Sound can shift a blockage. It cannot repair hardware. Knowing which one you have saves you from repeating a cycle that was never going to work.

Worth trying

  • Muffled sound after a splash, a spill, or rain
  • Water sitting behind the speaker mesh
  • Dust and pocket lint blocking the grille
  • Volume that faded with no knock or drop

Will not help

  • A speaker that already crackled before it got wet
  • Saltwater or pool water, which corrodes rather than blocks
  • Damage after a drop, or a cracked frame
  • A phone that stayed powered on through a long soak

Will this damage my speaker?

No. It plays sound through the speaker at a level the speaker is already built to produce. The real risk is to your ears, not the hardware, so do not hold the phone against your head while a cycle runs.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The tones are generated in your browser with the Web Audio API. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is uploaded.

Why is the vibration mode disabled on my iPhone?

Because iPhone browsers cannot control the vibration motor at all. Other sites still show you the button; it simply does nothing when you press it. Deep Clean is the strongest mode available on iOS.

How many times should I run it?

Two or three cycles is usually enough for a light splash. Dust often takes more. If four or five cycles change nothing, the problem is very likely hardware.

What does the speaker check actually measure?

It plays a sweep, records it with your microphone, and compares high-frequency energy against low-frequency energy. Water and dust muffle the high end first, so that ratio moves when the speaker clears. It ignores loudness on purpose, because loudness changes every time you move the phone.

It says no significant change. What now?

Run the cycle a few more times with the speaker pointing down. If the reading still does not move, stop. A technician can tell you in minutes whether the driver itself has failed.
